ALLEN HALL MEDIA
I took a class called Allen Hall Studios, which was a small experiential learning course that produced client work, for my term it was Portland TriMet. The instructor for the class, Maya, reached out to me to see if I would be interested in turning the class into a student-run agency, because there was a need for multimedia work in the area, and I was hooked.
An interview process didn’t even cross my mind as an option when thinking about creating a brand new agency because I didn’t know how well it would be received, but only having 25 spots available, there wasn’t another option to narrow down 150 applicants. So, we started the process of interviewing all of our amazing applicants. I don’t just say amazing to be nice, I mean that we literally had some of the most talented and inspiring people apply to be apart of the first ever Allen Hall Media team.
NEVER ENDING DAYS
Spring term 2018 was a blur. Countless meetings with Maya, planning, fine-tuning, and bringing a friend, Matty Leech, onto the team because I couldn’t do it alone. We finally sent out our initial email to all 2300 students in the School of Journalism and Communication, and received over 150 applications. I was so anxious after the email was sent, and awaited to see responses.
I am so happy to finally have the agency up and running. All of the hard work put in has paid off. We are currently working with five amazing clients in Eugene to gain real world skills in production and client communication, and we also have a small team of advertising students working on our brand and social media presence. This is the best of both worlds for me! You can check out our website here to learn more about Allen Hall Media, as well as follow us on social media @allenhallmedia.
