I’ve never particularly enjoyed writing. I’m constantly adding in filler words (that all of my teachers tend to point out) and am never satisfied with the final product when I’m done. Sometimes I feel like I picked the wrong major doing PR, but I have also come to realize PR is a lot more than just writing, even though that is an essential skill. This blog is a way for me to improve my writing by exploring my passions for professional development and also company branding. I’m confident in my ability to write on these subjects, I’m just working on delivering it in the most effective way possible.
As a junior at the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication, I have learned an overwhelming amount of information regarding professional development and life after graduation that I feel compelled to share with other students. From networking to interview tips, I’m constantly learning how to make yourself stand out as a student and land that dream job. My dream job is constantly changing because I love to explore companies that are changing the way consumers interact with a brand, so I will also be sharing the biggest game changers as they come, such as Netflix’s new visual communication strategy.
So, here I am blogging, even though I don’t love to write. As I’m writing this, though, I feel excited for what’s to come and to explore a medium of communication that’s out of my comfort zone.
